Boarding Procedure

Complete the following activities after the Pre-Flight checklist activities but before entering the simulator.

Line Up & Reinforce Hierarchy

Line the students up in the following order. One by one, make a short statement about the station’s responsibilities and relationship to all the other stations. Be sure everyone can hear these descriptions:

  1. XO — You’re second in command and responsible for the three Squad Leaders. If they make a mistake, the Captain will look to you for an explanation. Also, if any of these Squad Leaders need the Captain’s attention they will need to go through you.
  2. Gold Squad Leader — You are responsible for the safety and performance of your Squad.  If they make a mistake, the Captain will look to you for an explanation. Also, if any of these stations need the Captain’s attention they will need to go through you.
  3. Members of Gold Squad, one by one.
  4. Red Squad Leader — You are responsible for the safety and performance of your Squad.  If they make a mistake, the Captain will look to you for an explanation. Also, if any of these stations need the Captain’s attention they will need to go through you.
  5. Members of Red Squad, one by one.
  6. Blue Squad Leader — You are responsible for the safety and performance of your Squad.  If they make a mistake, the Captain will look to you for an explanation. Also, if any of these stations need the Captain’s attention they will need to go through you.
  7. Members of Blue Squad, one by one.
  8. Captain — You’re responsible leading the ship and completing the mission. If anything goes wrong, Headquarters will look to you for an explanation. You should work through your XO and Squad Leaders to manage your crew. A lot will be happening at once, so be sure to delegate tasks so you can keep your eye on the big picture.

Enter the Airlock

One by one, instruct the crew to enter the ship through the Airlock. When they arrive on the other side, they should announce their arrival by stating “(station name) reporting for duty!” The XO and Squad Leaders will be waiting for their arrival and will direct them to their stations to begin training.

Instruct the crew to report to their commanding officer and begin training immediately. When the Captain arrives, the XO will shout “Captain on the bridge!” and everyone should stop what they are doing, stand up, face the captain, and wait until the Captain sits down in the Captain’s chair.

Begin Training

After the Captain sits down, speak as the Computer. State that the ship is in Training Mode.

Then, call the bridge from the Engine Room. Introduce yourself and answer any questions. Encourage the Captain to give a short speech to the crew and then to let everyone complete their training.

When Training is complete, call the ship as the Admiral, answer any questions, and then begin the mission.
